Why see Burt Bacharach?
One of Pop's Greatest Songwriters
Eight-time Grammy winner and three time Oscar winner Burt Bacharach has written so many classic songs it's hard to keep track of them all. Collaborating with lyricist Hal David, Bacharach provided the likes of Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black, the Carpenters and Dionne Warwick with many of their biggest hits through the 60s and 70s, and his unique arrangements, heavily reliant on jazzy atmosphere and fuglehorns, became known as the 'Bacharach sound'. Burt's also a consummate performer of his own material, always happy to regale the audience with anecdotes between songs.
Among his many classic tunes are 'Walk On By', 'I Say A Little Prayer', 'The Look of Love', 'What's new Pussycat?', 'Reach Out', '(They Long to Be) Close To You', and, of course, 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head'.
