Awesome
Not sure how I came across Josh but so glad I did. Big fan who has now gotten my daughter on board too, so we both attended the show. He is the best. In these trying times his humor along with keeping us aware of what's at stake are what we need. I'm 77 & I love him!
HURRAY for Josh Johnson
Josh was GREAT! Clever, charming, but most of all - FUNNY!
Josh Johnson Delivers a Masterclass in Comedy—And We’re Taking Notes
Johnson once again proved why he’s one of the sharpest voices in comedy today—thought-provoking, effortlessly clever, and somehow always a step ahead of the audience. From the moment he took the stage, Johnson’s delivery was impeccable, his timing razor-sharp. He doesn’t just tell jokes; he orchestrates them, layering punchlines with the finesse of a stand-up scientist. His take on current events? Flawless. While some comedians dance around the hot-button topics of the day, Johnson dives in headfirst, delivering perspectives that make you laugh first and think later—sometimes in that order, sometimes not. By the time Johnson stepped up, the room was primed and ready, and he took full advantage. In an era where stand-up can sometimes feel predictable, Johnson remains refreshingly original. He doesn’t just entertain; he challenges, he provokes, and most importantly, he leaves you wanting more. If you missed this show, I have only one piece of advice: Don’t make that mistake again.
Not very good
Attended the show last night. Opening act was terrific, wish he was the headliner. Josh started out Ok, spent time taking about Syracuse's snow fall, but after that, it became dry and painfully slow. He spent 20 minutes talking about soap, and how his male friends use the wrong soap for a specific cleaning tasks. There was nothing funny about this, we considering exiting early but stayed going it would get better. No luck.....sad and disappointing. He did weave a few current political events into the show, but I was expecting a lot more of this since his daily show and online content are filled with political subjects. My wife and I left with the impression he had forgot a lot of his material and was trying to fill those gaps by extending subjects (soap) that should have died 10 minutes ago. A terrible night, we probably will not give him a second chance.
Comic No, Political Pundit maybe
It turned into what felt more like a prolonged political monologue. I don’t mind when comedians incorporate social commentary into their material—that’s often part of the craft—but this felt less like satire and more like a one-sided political rant. Much of the set centered on labeling political figures as racist or morally inferior, yet the tone at times struck me as divisive and, ironically, dismissive of people who may not share his worldview. What was presented as moral high ground came across to me as condescending and performative rather than clever or insightful. I ultimately left the show early because it simply wasn’t the experience I paid for. I was hoping for sharp, balanced comedy, not extended partisan commentary. Based on this experience, I won’t be attending another of his performances, and I’ve lost interest in following his talk show or future projects. Comedy is subjective, and I’m sure some audience members enjoyed the direction of the material—but it wasn’t for me.
